HEConnect offers the Joel Augustus Rogers Full Tuition Scholarship to honor his legacy as the "Father of Black History." Widely recognized by W.E.B. Du Bois and others for his groundbreaking contributions to the study of Black history, Rogers tirelessly revealed important facts about the Black race that had long been overlooked. A self-taught historian and anthropologist, he was one of the most knowledgeable individuals in the world regarding Black history, publishing his work independently without institutional support. This scholarship supports students dedicated to the study and promotion of Black history, race relations, and cultural preservation. It aims to empower individuals who share Rogers's passion for uncovering untold stories and who are committed to continuing his work through academic and public engagement. By supporting these students, HEConnect strives to ensure that future generations are informed and inspired by the rich history and contributions of the Black community.
