HEConnect proudly offers the Étienne Tshisekedi Legacy Scholarship in honor of Étienne Tshisekedi, a man known for his courage, his honesty, and his lifelong fight for justice in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Étienne Tshisekedi dedicated his life to defending the rights of the Congolese people. He stood firm in difficult times, often facing prison, exile, and pressure, but he never gave up on his vision of a fair and democratic nation. As the founder of the Union for Democracy and Social Progress (UDPS), he inspired many to believe that change is possible through courage, unity, and persistence.

He lived by a simple but powerful belief: “Le peuple d’abord”, the people first. This message continues to inspire a new generation to put service, dignity, and the common good at the center of leadership.

This scholarship is for students who share these values. It supports those who want to make a difference, who believe in justice, and who are ready to serve their communities with integrity and purpose.
